Where is your inspiration coming from?
People, nature and the color of the birds. My inspiration is interior and intuitive. It is a mixture of things I know and my imagination. The collection in this show is inspired by a collaboration between myself and an ex-student for a show. The theme was "resonance". We each explored the meaning of this word independently and then found a surprising conductive line that lead us to create a series of interlacing forms that recall Chladni figures ("nodal patterns") and the physical resonances frequencies. From this starting point we each developed our own line.
What are you trying to communicate in particular with your artwork?
I want to create pieces that expresses joy and fun and is also precious.
Which material you prefer to use and why ?
Gold, platinum, bronze, silver and stones. I use them because of their unique qualities and because it is important for me to underline the value of my work with precious materials.
How much value do you give to researching material for your creations?
Very much because it is essential to the result of my work.
Is it more important for you the process, or the final artwork itself?
Both are very important, it depends on the piece; when a piece is more complicated I really enjoy the process, when it is simile I focus mainly on the end result.
Is there an artist you prefer and why ?
I like Van Gogh because I feel I understand his art, it is humane and I like his colors.
Have you ever thought to collaborate with other artists , or you like to work on your own?
I like both, it depends on the project and the situation. Collaboration enriches and opens doors to new solutions and new situations, it could lead to an endless evolution.
Where do you feel you are at with this last collection?
All of my collections have infinite ways to change direction.
What have you discovered of yourself, are you satisfied ?
I am never satisfied, even when I am happy with a result there is always something I would have done differently. This is what keeps me evolving technically and intellectually.
Two words to describe your last artwork collection.
Movement and statics.
