Where is your inspiration coming from?
Everywhere: my own experiences, social media, hardware stores and so on.
What are you trying to communicate in particular with your artwork?
In my work, I focus on gender issues, especially toxic masculinity. By combining jewellery with culture typically associated with men, I challenge and deconstruct the gender norms and gender binary.
Which material you prefer to use and why?
I use many different materials, but the material has to fit the subject. Especially I like wood materials such as chipboard, because of its texture and lightness, for example.
How much value do you give to researching material for your creations?
It is important to know the materials I use. However, the materials are not everything for me and my work is usually not based on certain materials.
Is it more important for you the process, or the final artwork itself?
The process, I think, but it is very satisfying to get pieces finished as well.
Is there an artist you prefer and why?
There are many artists, but recently I have been inspired by Lin Cheung, for example. I like how she uses jewellery as a subject in her practice in many different ways. After moving to Sweden I have also found many new interesting Swedish artists.
Have you ever thought to collaborate with other artists , or you like to work on your own?
I am a student so I collaborate with other students all the time, and I would like to continue that alongside my own artistic practice.
Where do you feel you are at with this last collection?
The pieces that I exhibit in this show are not what I am currently working on. For me, it is a positive thing that I have a different kinds of projects. With my latest work, I feel I am going in the right direction.
What have you discovered of yourself, are you satisfied ?
I feel like I learn and discover a lot every day. I am satisfied because I am excited about my latest project, and the fact that I feel more confident about my work.
Two words to describe your last artwork collection.
Statement and playful.
