Where is your inspiration coming from?
I’m inspired by the delicacy of everything that surrounds me, especially by nature and by the feeling of vulnerability that causes me to feel sleepy all day (I'm narcoleptic), by dreams, daydreams (hallucinations) and memories of those times and different bodily symptoms
What are you trying to communicate in particular with your artwork?
I try to show that fragility is everywhere; I intend to express those feelings experimenting materials; the interaction and intimacy between my jewels and its wearer by the way they are worn and cared.
Which material you prefer to use and why?
I prefer materials such as porcelain, wood, metals, natural fibers because they connect me to nature. I specially enjoy transforming them.
How much value do you give to researching material for your creations?
It’s essential. Most of my work and its process becomes from researching materials. My pieces are just a stop in that process.
Is it more important for you the process, or the final artwork itself?
I think final artwork is a consequence of process, but that process can be material or immaterial.
Is there an artist you prefer and why?
I like the way Pollock conceived art, his relation with his art work during the process, the idea of giving and taking.
Have you ever thought to collaborate with other artists , or you like to work on your own?
I have collaborated with other artists and I love it, although not simple, it is a rich and enriching experience. But I also need my time to be with myself and work on my own
Where do you feel you are at with this last collection?
From the beginning I have felt that the "Broken" and "Interiors" collections have been the result of new experiences and relations with good and interesting people.
What have you discovered of yourself, are you satisfied?
I discovered that I make things not because I want to, but because I need to. Satisfied? Sometimes yes, others not so much. I enjoy the process; I like to think I’m growing and learning new things.
Two words to describe your last artwork collection.
