Where is your inspiration coming from?
My inspiration borns nature, different landscapes that can be found in my homeland. From the driest desert in the north to the green deep forest of south of Chile; from the snowy mountain range to the east, to the immense ocean to the west.
What are you trying to communicate in particular with your artwork?
I try to capture in my pieces what I feel when I am doing them, so they are part of feelings and ideas that come out of me. I hope that the viewer will be moved as it happens in other disciplines of art like music or dance.
Which material you prefer to use and why ?
I prefer to work with copper, this material offers me many alternatives of finishes that are very attractive, such as oxidized colors, shiny finishes and patinas.
How much value do you give to researching material for your creations?
Research of material is a very important part of my inspiration process. Knowing the values of a material allows me to express myself through my pieces and take them to another level and dimension.
Is it more important for you the process, or the final artwork itself?
Both are very important, the process is always a discovery, you start with an idea that is developed, the finished piece is often very different from the initial idea.
Is there an artist you prefer and why ?
Tone Vigeland, I admire her work, the artistic proposal, how she uses materials, the research of forms. Her pieces look like real sculptures.
Have you ever thought to collaborate with other artists , or you like to work on your own?
I like collective work very much, it is an instance of learning and sharing experience.
Where do you feel you are at with this last collection?
I am still in a research stage, discovering new forms and volumes. Trying to bring the material and technique to other dimensions.
What have you discovered of yourself, are you satisfied ?
I am very satisfied with my latest work, my proposal is different and I have been recognized for this. However it still much to continue working.
Two words to describe your last artwork collection.
